Minnesota

Hi everyone, this is goldbats reporting to you on the first few days of my summer vacation. The second school was out my parents whisked Dever and me to Minnesota. The drive was a whopping 12 hours.

By the time that we got here we were sick and tired of the car. Right when we got there we went to see Hans's baseball game. Then we explored every inch of Hans's, Bjorn's, and their parents house. This is were we would be staying from Thursday to Saturday morning. The house was awesome. It had an indoor gym and a zip line outside over the river. We stayed outside in the log cabin which was about 10 feet from the house.
On Friday the babysitter, Abby, came over. It was raining all day so she consented to take us to the movie theater. We saw the last Shrek movie in 3D. Although the 3D was good the movie got a little bit boring because Shrek had about 20 chances to kiss Fiona and he didn't. On the last day Dever and I took advantage of the 800 acres of trails in their backyard. We hiked all the way to the top of the hill. That might not sound really impressive but, from the top of this "hill" you can see all of Duluth. (I probably should mention that Duluth was the city that we were staying in.) From the top of the rock on the hill you can see 2 paths. We were VERY lucky that we took the right one because the other one would lead you to Canada. The way back down was a bit nerve racking because Dever and I got lost. I know not really surprising, but it was still scary. We saw a deer from about 20 feet away. It was incredible!

Eventually we found the river and followed that to the bridge which we crossed. Next we re-traced our steps through a sea of ferns. Mom, it was so pretty. There were ferns everywhere! Finally we came to the zip line and we zip lined back over.
As we left Duluth for Cromwell we stopped at the harbor and watched the lift bridge let boats through. As you can see below the lift bridge just lifts up the road and the boat goes under.

Finally we were on our way to Cromwell. It was only an hour drive so it was fairly uneventful, the most exciting part was calling mom. As we drove into town the sign said, "Cromwell Population of 219." Just put that into some sort of perspective that is the number of first and second graders in my school. In Cromwell we are staying with Kiiri, Bruce, Anja, and Liam. Kiiri is my dad's good friend from college. They live on a lake so on Sunday we went swimming in the FREEZING COLD water. After freezing to death we went into the sauna and warmed up.

Then we watched the 4th star wars movie. Although it was a great movie it was REALLY sad when Anakin turned to the dark side. The absolute saddest part for me was when that little boy asks Anakin what they are supposed to do and then "Darth Vader" murders all of the younglings. Next is when Padme dies and "Darth Vader" comes back to life and the emperor tells him that in his rage he killed Padme. That is all so far, but I am sure that I will have more to post later, though it might be on a different topic.
I am putting Dever in charge of pictures so I will load them as soon as I get them. See you all
in 2 weeks!!
