Day 2

On our second day we got off to a late start. However after breakfast and exercising, my dad, we began the drive to the Pittsburgh Science Museum. There we saw a demonstration of the amazing properties of liquid nitrogen.

We then went outside to the USS Requin which is an actual cold war era submarine. The submarine seemed large until you realized that there were around 70 crew on board and 10 officers.

After the submarine we went to the Sports Works building, part of the Science Museum. This was lots of fun. They had tons of different activities that you could do from rock climbing to trampolining. It was also a great way to get some energy out for our long drive ahead. Our next stop was Washington DC, but we still had 4 hours of driving ahead of us. It turned out to be more. Less than an hour away from our destination we took a rest stop to let Dever go the bathroom. When we got back on the highway, we got on going to wrong direction, and the nearest exit was 45 minutes away. That added considerable time to our driving schedule so by the time we reached the house we were all exhausted. As soon as possible we fell asleep.

Day 1

"Oh what puny knowledge is congealed within mere books,"was my dad's quote in his high school yearbook, and, to a certain extent, it's true. There is only so much that you can learn sitting in a classroom, listening to a teacher, and reading textbooks. Luckily for me, my dad has always know this and is always trying to find ways for me to learn things that I wouldn't learn in school. This time my dad, Dever, and I went on a trip to Washington DC. Our trip started early Wednesday morning, at about 7 AM, when we left Fort Wayne. After about five and a half hours of driving we reached our first stop, Pittsburgh PA. Originally we were planning on going to the science museum, but we took a wrong turn off of the highway and ended up going to the history museum instead. To learn more about the history museum click here! The history museum had several interesting exhibits including one about how Pittsburgh has changed over time. We first saw that exhibit, and then ate lunch in a cafe downstairs. Then we went back up and saw an exhibit about the French and Indian war. I found this especially interesting because we have been recently studying this time period in school. After the museum we went on a walk to try and find an open air market that the lady in the gift shop had told us about. We discovered it was closed, but we had fun looking at all the shops. Dever bought a hat that he wore for the rest of the trip. It generated loads comments from everyone we met.

By now we had been up for ages and were all quite tired of traveling so we began the drive to our hotel. It took a while, but we made it to our hotel and checked in. We hung out for a while and then Dever went to the Panera in the lobby for dinner. After dever had eaten, my dad and I walked to a nearby restaurant and ate some delicious Burmese food. It was the end of a great day of traveling!

Good-Bye Lizzy

Lizzy recently got a very nice job at Epic which is located in Verona, Wisconsin. To Find Out More About Epic Click Here! Although we are very glad that she got this job, and hope that she has lots of fun in Madison, this unfortunately means that Lizzy had to move. Driving 307.13 miles per day, roughly 5hrs 45 min, just wasn't going to work. A few days ago we had a little going away party that was loads of fun for everyone! Games were played, cookies were had, and LOTS of Polaroid pictures!

We love you LIZZY!

Happy Birthday JUJU!

Yesterday we had Juju's 5th birthday party! Fun times were had by all, and Juju got lots of presents! One of his favorites was a remote control car from Grandma and Grandpa Nash! He has already used it numerous times and LOVES IT!

Another important event at the party was that it was officially declared Sydney was taller than Jenny! YEAH! Quote from the official measuring:
Jenny: Lizzy, I don't think you are holding the ruler straight, I can't feel it on my head.
Lizzy: That's because the ruler is on Sydney's head!

Happy Birthday 13th Sydney!

So while I'm on the topic of summer birthdays here is yet another one! I had my birthday a few weekends ago with some school friends, including a new girl. The party was a huge success, and everyone had fun at the lake! We hung out playing ping pong, and going tubing. Ashley got me a very cool card that said on the outside: If laughter adds years to our lives (and then on the inside) Then we're going to live forever!! Great quote! Thanks to everyone who could come, especially to those who drove boats!
