Day 1

"Oh what puny knowledge is congealed within mere books,"was my dad's quote in his high school yearbook, and, to a certain extent, it's true. There is only so much that you can learn sitting in a classroom, listening to a teacher, and reading textbooks. Luckily for me, my dad has always know this and is always trying to find ways for me to learn things that I wouldn't learn in school. This time my dad, Dever, and I went on a trip to Washington DC. Our trip started early Wednesday morning, at about 7 AM, when we left Fort Wayne. After about five and a half hours of driving we reached our first stop, Pittsburgh PA. Originally we were planning on going to the science museum, but we took a wrong turn off of the highway and ended up going to the history museum instead. To learn more about the history museum click here! The history museum had several interesting exhibits including one about how Pittsburgh has changed over time. We first saw that exhibit, and then ate lunch in a cafe downstairs. Then we went back up and saw an exhibit about the French and Indian war. I found this especially interesting because we have been recently studying this time period in school. After the museum we went on a walk to try and find an open air market that the lady in the gift shop had told us about. We discovered it was closed, but we had fun looking at all the shops. Dever bought a hat that he wore for the rest of the trip. It generated loads comments from everyone we met.

By now we had been up for ages and were all quite tired of traveling so we began the drive to our hotel. It took a while, but we made it to our hotel and checked in. We hung out for a while and then Dever went to the Panera in the lobby for dinner. After dever had eaten, my dad and I walked to a nearby restaurant and ate some delicious Burmese food. It was the end of a great day of traveling!
