Good-Bye Lizzy

Lizzy recently got a very nice job at Epic which is located in Verona, Wisconsin. To Find Out More About Epic Click Here! Although we are very glad that she got this job, and hope that she has lots of fun in Madison, this unfortunately means that Lizzy had to move. Driving 307.13 miles per day, roughly 5hrs 45 min, just wasn't going to work. A few days ago we had a little going away party that was loads of fun for everyone! Games were played, cookies were had, and LOTS of Polaroid pictures!

We love you LIZZY!

Happy Birthday JUJU!

Yesterday we had Juju's 5th birthday party! Fun times were had by all, and Juju got lots of presents! One of his favorites was a remote control car from Grandma and Grandpa Nash! He has already used it numerous times and LOVES IT!

Another important event at the party was that it was officially declared Sydney was taller than Jenny! YEAH! Quote from the official measuring:
Jenny: Lizzy, I don't think you are holding the ruler straight, I can't feel it on my head.
Lizzy: That's because the ruler is on Sydney's head!

Happy Birthday 13th Sydney!

So while I'm on the topic of summer birthdays here is yet another one! I had my birthday a few weekends ago with some school friends, including a new girl. The party was a huge success, and everyone had fun at the lake! We hung out playing ping pong, and going tubing. Ashley got me a very cool card that said on the outside: If laughter adds years to our lives (and then on the inside) Then we're going to live forever!! Great quote! Thanks to everyone who could come, especially to those who drove boats!

Happy Birthday Jenny!

Another birthday that I attended this summer was my Aunt Jenny's party. She had it at her next-door neighbors pool, lots of fun!! In case you were wondering, there are forty brownies because it was her 40th birthday! (I made the brownies and they doubled as her present!) Hope you all have something sweet to eat!

Happy Birthday Sarah!

A great picture of Sarah with her cake!
Well, I know that this was a long time ago, but on 7-6-11 Sarah celebrated her first birthday with the next door neighbors. We all had lots of fun eating cake and ice cream that had been made earlier in the day!

Laugh at the Clown Car!

Everyone needs to laugh at least once a day. So here are some funny jokes, read them, tell them to your friends, and make sure to tell you friends were you read them!

  • Sally's parents were going out to dinner so Sally said for "$20 I will be good all night" to which her dad replied, "Heck in my day I was good for nothing!"
  • A orchestra conductor was having trouble with one of her percussion players. She was never on the right beat and always had complaints. The conductor talked to her and informed her that her performance needed to improve, but nothing helped. Finally one day the conductor stood up infront of the orchestra and said, "Sometimes in a an orchestra if a certain player is up to snuff and can't play their instrument well enough they take away her instrument, give her two sticks, and make her a drummer." When she finished speaking she heard a voice in the percussion section say, "And if she can't play the drums they take away one of her sticks and make her a conductor.
  • A man and his wife were driving on a cross country road trip and came a cross the name of a town they couldn't quite pronounce, the towns name was Kissimmee. They were driving through this small little town and decided to stop and get something to eat. They stopped and got out. While they were ordering the man turned to their server and said, "My wife and I are wondering, could you please say very slowly and clearly the name of the place that we are in?" The server turned to him and said,"Bbbuuuuurrrrrggggggeeeeeeerrrrrr Kkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnngggggggg"
  • A man walked into a diner and told the waitress, "I really would like a cup of coffee, but I don't have any money to pay for it." The waitress replied, "I'm sorry sir, but no money no coffee",  to which the man replied, "What if I show you something that you have never seen before?" The waitress agreed and the man pulled a hamster out of his pocket and set it on the table. The hamster ran across the table, lept onto a nearby piano keyboard, and began to play very well. The waitress was impressed and gave him his cup of coffee. Well soon enough the man finished his coffee and wanted more, but the waitress said, "No money, no miracle, no coffee." The man pulled a frog out of his pocket and set him on the table. The frog opened its mouth and began to sing, perfectly in tune. Another man sitting in the diner heard him sing and rushed over to the man offering to buy the frog for $300. The man agreed, and after the buyer had left the waitress turned to the man and said, "Why did you sell that frog for $300? A frog like that would be worth millions!" "No," replied the man, "the hamster is also a ventriloquist!"
A day without a smile is a day wasted!

Summer

You know it's summer in Fort Wayne when.............

  1. you bike to computer camp at 8:25am and it is 84 degrees, then when you leave at 2pm it is 98 degrees. (and later that day it gets to 104)
  2. your flowers look wilted because the last time you watered them was 30min ago.
  3. The cool of the week is going to be 74 degrees at night.
  4. For the past week every single Wildcat game in the afternoon has been canceled.
  5. In the newspaper the power company is asking people to turn up the ac a little so they don't have a power overload!
I hope you guys are staying cool and loving summer!

Colorado!!

We just got back from a great vacation in colorado! We were able to see all of our family members and got to hang out and bond while looking at great landscape.

As none of you know, but I will now tell you, my wonderful camera that was a gift from my amazing godfather Pepe has recently broken. However that problem is no more because while we were in Greeley my Grandpa happened to have an extra camera that he was not using so he generously gave it to me! While in Greeley we visited the world renowned train museum and went swimming almost every day.

Then it was time to load into the car for the four hour drive to Carbondale where my Aunt Sarah and Uncle Bill rented a house for the summer!

A mountain view in Fargo!

On the way we stopped at the Fargo town museum and saw the oldest log cabin in the state. We hung out in Fargo for a while stopping at a bakery that Aunt Sarah recommended.  Of course anyone who knows us will realize that what would take most people a four hour drive would take us at least 5 hours to complete. This time was no exception, the drive took us six hours.

Luckily Sarah slept most of the time!
When we arrived we hung out for a while and unpacked, then we all took a hike.

Uncle Bill in the kitchen

Unfortunately it started rain, but Mama, Uncle Bill, Aunt Sarah, Sarah, Dever, Juju and I all got back without getting too soaked. But alas, Papa had taken a different route and arrived home completely drenched!
Papa, drenched!

Rainbow!!
On Friday Aunt Emily, Uncle Doug, and Madeleine came up to see us and we had a great time hanging out with them!!!
Thank you Aunt Sarah and Uncle Bill for inviting us!

Dever's Soccer Season Closes

Yesterday Dever got up and left at 8:00 to play in a soccer tournament. His last game ended at 5 PM, just in time for us to go to Holy Cross and hear Juju sing with his Vacation Bible school group. Here was how the last couple games went....
1. Italy (Dever's team) played USA and lost 1-0 because they scored on a DIRECT kick that SHOULD have been INDIRECT! Grrr!

2. Since the tournament is double elimation directly after that game they went to the field one over and played England. Luckily they beat england 3-1.

3. Through the crazy schedule right after that game they played USA AGAIN and WON 1-0.

4. Unfortunately this was USA's 1st lost so 5 min. after the previous game Italy played USA again for the championship and lost. However everyone is very proud of Italy and how well they did.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support them

Soccer Update

My Holy Cross Soccer Team!

The soccer season is still going, but here are some updates for you!
  • Raptors
We are so far undefeated, and I scored at the last game!!! There is a tournament next weekend and then the season is over. :( I went by so quickly.

  • Holy Cross Crusaders
We played the semi-final game this morning and all nearly died in the heat!! The game was against Concordia and was tough at the beginning, but we pulled through and won 5-2. I scored 2 points! The first was a very high kick over the goalies head and into the net, and the second one was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Because we won we will play in the championship game this Monday. Wish us Luck!

500 pounds of sand!!

As the weather is getting warmer we have found that almost everyone who plays in the sand box will, at one point or another dump some sand out! Well a lot of people play in the sand box so as you might imagine we have been running low on sand. So this past weekend my dad took Fiona and Sarah to the store and bought 500 pounds of sand!!!!!!!! Enjoy the pics!

Snow Baby Snow!!!!!!!

Thanks to a blizzard that hit the midwest earlier this week Fort Wayne had been getting some serious snow! On Monday we went to school. The only thing everyone was talking about was how much snow we were supposed to get. Almost everybody thought that there would be a cancelation the next day, and they were right! Tuesday rolled around and there were six inches of snow on the ground, and it was STILL snowing!!!!! As soon as Dever and I had finished our chores my dad took us over the Speckhards where all of the other neighborhood kids had converged. After playing there for most of the day we had to go home to do some more work and eat dinner. Then as a surprise we went back and spent the night there, Jacob spent the night at our house. We watched "Karate Kid" the new version and it was surprisingly good.

On Wednesday we woke up to the news that school had been canceled and it was still snowing. By now we had about a foot of snow on the ground!!! YEAH!! We spent most of the at the Speckhard's house playing. And after a wonderful dinner we all went sledding as a family. Those two snow day rocked the house. On Thursday and Friday we had two hour delays so basically we got nothing done at school all week!!!!

Bball Game!

This year Holy Cross has had an incredible 5th and 6th grade team. I have been very fortunate to be allowed to play on. Last weekend we championship game 44-9. Yes, sometimes we are ruthless!

Anyway yesterday we had a game against the Central Lutheran Chargers. Now it was very exciting that we beat them 49-21. But, for me at least, the most exciting part was when I was on the ground, fighting for the ball, and lo and behold someone knocked my glassess off. Ignoring that minor technicality I continued fight for the ball, which I eventually won. Then as I was reaching for my glasses I noticed that the frames were broken and one of the lenses had popped out. I gathered up all of the pieces and ran them up to my dad, and went back onto the floor. Of course coach wanted me to come off, but I managed to convince him to let me keep playing.

So that was my big basketball adventure, and now I am at home waiting for my dad to take me to get a new pair of glasses!

Merry Christmas!

I hope all of you had a great Christmas!! We certainly did. For Christmas Eve mass we went to St. Paul's church as we do almost every year. The children's choirs have there concert during the mass so there is lots of great singing along with a lovely sermon. Then we, my dad, Dever, and I, returned home and tracked Santa on our new ipod touches. Yes, you heard me right IPOD TOUCHES!! To tell you how that came about let me back track to around 3PM on Christmas Eve afternoon........

There were two boxes waiting for Dever and me on the kitchen table when I walked. They were from Grandma and Grandpa Kemme. In my house we open our gifts from people outside of Fort Wayne on Christmas Eve. Papa got out the camera and Dever and I eagerly began to open up the packages together. Lo and behold, inside were 2 ipod touches with each of our names and phone numbers engraved on the back. (A stroke of genius to have our names on them, at least according to my mom!) While Papa synced them so we could use them asap we called Grandma and Grandpa and conveyed our sincere thanks!!! Now back to later on Christmas Eve........

After we had sufficiently tracked Santa to our hearts content we scurried upstairs and into bed to try to get some sleep for tomorrow! Unfortunately, after laying in my bed for a half an hour I was not the least bit dreary so I walked back downstairs to consult my dad on what I should do. The only solution he could offer was to lay in their bed, which I promptly did. I eventually fell asleep only to be wakened 5 hours later being told to go back to my own bed. At least this time I fell asleep easier!

On Christmas morning we woke up and raced down the stairs to see what Santa and my parents had brought us. They were many good present, but if I had to list everyones favorite present I would say, Papa: a poem I wrote for him, Mama: A CD with pictures from the photo shoot of Sarah, Sydney: All three Lord of the Rings movies in an extended collectors set version!!!!!, Dever: D&D Miniatures, Juju: a plastic baby doll that he can wash, and Sarah: a mobile that Dever made for her!! After most of the presents had been opened we ate coffee cake and, OH I forgot the best part, Rudolf took pity on us poor sugar deprived kids and brought us Captain Crunch and Coca Bits. Dever, of course ate like 5 bowls, but after my first bowl I started feeling a little sick and had to stop.

After breakfast we donned our Christmas outfits and went over to Grandma and Grandpa Nash's house for more Christmas celebrations. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
